Abstract: To evaluate safety and efficacy of toric phakic contact lens (IPCL) implantation in Keratoconic patients.

Methods: This study included 17 eyes of 10 consecutive patients with keratoconus that underwent IPCL implantation (IPCL V2, Care group Sight Solutions, India)). The main variables included uncorrected distance visual acuity (UCVA), best corrected distance visual acuity (BCVA) , sphere, astigmatism, and IOP were examined preoperatively and 1, 3 and 6 months postoperatively. Also Intraoperative and postoperative complications were evaluated.

Results: Mean age of the subjects was 36±8.8 years. Pre operative BCVA was 0.75 ± 0.21 which improved to 0.86 ± 0.11. At the preoperative visits, the mean UCVA was 0.09 ± 0.11 which improved to 0.78 ± 0.15D. Preoperatively, the mean SE was -6.8 ± 2.1 which improved to -0.7 ± 0.3 at postoperative visit .There is no statistical different in IOP at pre and post evaluations. None of our patients had any post-operative complications after six months such as endophthalmitis, uveitis, IPCL rotation, cataracts or cystoid macular edema (CME)

Conclusion: Implantation of IPCL for patients with keratoconus is safe and effective. More studies with longer follow up and large sample size are recommended.
