Abstract: The current paper investigates the effect of hyperopic orthokeratology lenses (Boston XO) in correction of presbyopia based on the Monovision technique for those who don’t want to use the eyeglass and lens for correction of nearsightness during daytime and they also have some concerns about side effects of eye surgeries.
Methods: Due to the carried out statistical surveys, having passed the the inclusion criteria for the research and filled the informed consent form, Eleven individuals have been participated in this study. The initial examinations were carried out for ordering the contact lenses. Having received the lens and trained how to use it and how to disinfect it, Fluorescein scheme was evaluated for centrality and proper fitting of lens. Participated individual was asked to wear the lens for seven nights on the non-dominant eye (Priviously the non-dominant eye was recognized through Hole-in-Card test). On the Firth day morning and seventh day, one hour after the lens removal, examinations were repeated. The changes of refraction, visual acuity and topography of cornea were evaluated. After one week without use of lens, the examinations were carried out for investigation of symptoms return on the 14th day morning.
Results: The changes of refraction on the 1th and 7th day morning were significant and showed the shift toward Myopia. The central axial curvature of cornea become steeper and cornea peripheral axial curvature become flatter.
Conclusion: Hyperopic orthokeratology lenses (Boston Xo) could be considered as one candidate for correction of Presbyopia.
